In 1993, the Cazeneuve family took over a two-hectare vineyard in the heart of one of the most prestigious appellations of the Médoc, Margaux. This rare gem, nestled in the small town of Cantenac – home to many Grands Crus Classés in 1855 – gave life to Château La Bessane.
Château La Bessane reflects the authenticity and elegance of the Margaux terroirs. Its very confidential production comes from a 2-hectare vineyard, unique in its grape variety composition of 22% Petit Verdot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 55% Merlot.
Planted on slopes of gravel shaped by erosion, the vines of the Margaux appellation offer a unique landscape. The terroir of Château La Bessane, a mixture of gravel, pebbles, and clayey sands, constantly challenges the vines to deeply draw the water and nutrients necessary for their growth. This results in the production of very beautiful grapes every year.Certified organic since the 2021 vintage, Château La Bessane is also a reflection of our team’s commitment to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
Château La Bessane is a wine of great subtlety, skillfully combining opulence, deliciousness, and strength. An iron fist in a velvet glove! Its character is expressed through intense fruity aromas and a generous structure supported by velvety tannins. Thanks to the significant presence of Petit Verdot and a traditional aging of 12 months in barrels, Château La Bessane offers remarkable aging potential.Château La Bessane expresses a richness and complexity typical of the great Margaux wines. At Paloumey, we particularly enjoy it when it accompanies delicate dishes such as veal osso bucco or local Médoc porcini mushrooms cooked in a pan-fry.
In motion by nature, Château Paloumey produces authentic Médoc wines in perfect harmony with their terroir and the environment.
