To be completely honest, I will retain mixed memories of July 15, 2018… first the joy following the French national football team’s victory in the World Cup final, then the distress when I discovered the many messages and missed calls on my phone during the match. Indeed, shortly after 5 p.m., the weather turned violent and hail devastated our vineyard. In the space of just a few minutes, we lost nearly 60% of our production.
The 2018 growing season will also go down in history for its unprecedented mildew pressure. As the second official year of Château Paloumey’s transition to organic certification, the 2018 vintage truly put our winegrowers’ nerves to the test!
